Ok.. I've done Master Cleanse in the past using Maple Syrup and I had good results. I was not a fan of the SWF, so I only did it once in the past and just went on with the Cleanse as instructed. Fast Forward to the present. I decided to do Master-Cleanse again but using Blackstrap Molasses this time (as I have a lot of it in the house due to Potassium deficiency issues I deal with off and on) I started the Cleanse today with a SWF. The Salt-Water-Flush (done as instructed) yielded no results. Not only did I have no bowel movements of significance but I have retained all of the water I drank and all of the water from the Lemonade I've had since then. I have had 3.8 pounds of water for the day and only eliminated .8 of it.
This is very unusual for me. Now, I AM mid cycle so I may be retaining water for hormonal reasons but my past experience was that The Master Cleanse helped to prevent me from retaining water during those times of the month when I normally retained water so it is very surprising to me that it would contribute to water retention or not prevent water retention this time around. I can still feel the salt water in my stomach (I actually felt like vomiting earlier but thankfully it hasn't come up that way). Do you think it is the Salt-Water-Flush that is causing this and the Cleanse will work as normal tomorrow if I omit it or do you think the Molasses may be a contributing factor. I am quite distressed at this turn of events!
The Salt Water Flush exacerbated the problem but even without doing the SWF, using Molasses instead of Maple Syrup causes me to retain water rather than eliminate it. My weight loss went down to .4 on day 4 (which is unheard of for me when I do the MC) and switching back to Maple Syrup is resulting in elimination of the extra water I was retaining and setting me back on course. Not sure if this problem is unique to me since I sometimes have issues with low Potassium but it may be something for those who are attempting to do this with Molasses to keep their eye on.
