I've pretty much had a body odor problem since it was 'brought to my attention' about 20 years ago when I was in high school...one time someone said I smelled like skunk and from then on I became self-conscious about it,and to this day if I'm at a job and people begin to react or whisper I know the inevitable 'talk' is coming...I'm usually brought aside and this is addressed. It finally got to the point where I had to make something up and say it was a medical condition, which it most likely is.
I've tried many things including soaps, industrial strength deorodants etc with not much success. I also try to watch my diet but it seems when I eat certain things or combinations of things is when it really acts up...and warm weather is the worst!
So I'm thinking it may be things perhaps such as indigestion, candida,or adrenal. Although I've also tried things like cleansers, acidophilus, enzymes, and chlorophyll with little results. Perhaps I'm just not taking enough of them or in the right amounts or order.
Just a quick thought here. In high school, or there abouts when this started, did you by any chance have to take a sulfur based or containing drug? Like an sulfur based antibiotic or adderall? I ask b/c I once had a friend take a sulfur antibiotic and she developed a "smell." She went to a ND/MD who said it disabled her liver's ability to use sulfur. The smell was her bodies way of trying to rid her of it. He also told her her liver was spinning the wrong way. I think she said it was spinning to the left and it should have been to the right. Anyway, he treated her with a fruit juice fast for 5 days(I think that long), and gave her a homeopathic sulfur treatment. I don't know what kind it was b/c he was from Germany, and apparently that's where he ot his treatments from. But I know Hylands makes a sulfur homeopathic. Just thought I'd mention it.
Actually I wasn't taking any drugs then...that was after everyone started driving me crazy that they went ahead and tried to put me on Navane which is I think for anxiety, anyway I didn't take much of that either. Perhaps the smell started coming from all the junk food I was eating, including lots of milk!
So the liver spins?? Wasn't aware of that. Sounds like that doctor was probably spinning, lol.
Should I try MSM or something? That's a sulfur? I don't know if I should go on a juice fast as I have blood Sugar issues and possibly candida.
Haven't tried the colonic,I heard colon cleansing programs work just as well. I do the Ultimate Cleanse supplement bu Nature's Secret, seems to work ok for what it's designed for although not sure if it's the best for odor. I also have a candida cleanse program by Renew Life I think it's called.
I do chlorophyll but I don't think I've done wheat grass yet. Btw is it called fecal body odor b/c I don't think it smells like feces...it's mostly acid smelling.
I don't usually eat sauerkraut or kefir but I do admit I do a bit of dairy.
I think I tried Kefir once, but I do yogurt(I try to get the non dairy kind when poss) I also have probiotic supplements but I heard most of them get destroyed in the stomach. Thing is the probiotics don't usually get rid of the smell, perhaps it's something else?
During the treatment I used to smell like a skunk myself. It is due to toxins coming out with the sweat. Detox is a good way to solve the problem and I would suggest sauna therapy to help the toxins out and solve the problem for good.
I think I may try that also. I do notice after awhile of sweating in the summer things seem to dissipate somewhat...it's just that I keep putting more toxins in! But I can't figure out why so many people eat worse than I do and still smell like a rose.
So how come the toxins don't go out other places like my feet or something? I did hear once that people have more sweat glands in other areas than others so maybe that's it,because I do eliminate quite regularly otherwise.
Perhaps it's allergies to food also.
I had few sessions in the sauna last month for like 20mins each. really soaked myself completely. But doesnt look like it helped much since im back to my normal BO state as of now. I'm still positive that detox should lead you out of BO if everything like diet and exercise is in place. Anyone has experience to share?
Peroxide and baking soda is primarily for people with mild body odor which can disappear by taking a shower. Our case is different, its like skunk fragrance from every skin pore available.
I've found the baking soda helps a little even with my advanced state...today was the first day I tried the peroxide so I'll see.
As far as the skunk fragrance from every skin pore, that's not really true for me. It's mostly concentrated in the underarm region
I have grapefruit seed extract in my candida formula. Not sure if I tried peroxide yet but wouldn't that burn? I do have baking soda that works somewhat also.
I agree on the hormonal thing...perhaps it is skunklike how whenever I got really nervous is when it would most be noticeable. Even recently whenever I get worked up at work or something it kicks in. I wish that stuff was true from those deodorant commercials like Degree that claims when you get worked up it kicks in...nothing I've tried tho.
I've been joking that I could rent my underarms out to extract battery acid from;)
Have you done any liver cleansing? I read about someone on here years ago who had bad body odour - they did liver flushing and it went away. It sort of makes sense if you are not eliminating properly. I dont know much about liver flushing I have never done it myself but you could check out the forum.
As far as the liver cleansing,I do alot of intestinal cleansing but not as much organ cleansing. I've done some of that and it doesn't seem to be as effective as I expected. One of the things that does seem to take things down a bit is the intestinal cleanser...if only I could just eat better afterwards and not put toxins back in! I'm currently working on things to reduce cravings for bad foods.
It does sound hormonal with you. You said it started in high school when the hormones kick in. And hormones affect adrenals which when you get nervous the smell increases, hence the term 'smell of fear.'
Whenever I took estrogen, the same day I would get a strong acidic smell. My friend noticed it too. Also, there is a man at the gym that I am sure is taking some supplements that is affecting his hormones. The acne on his back and arms is terrible, and whenever he works out, his smell is so strong that I have to stay back at least 10 feet. I knew some convicts that had the same pattern acne and they were taking steroids in jail to grow bigger muscles.
You could try getting a hormonal panel done, but it doesn't always show a problem. It didn't with me and I have been having hormonal problems all my life.
I have been giving a grapefruit seed extract gel on my cat's teeth that is supposed to remove tartar. His breath has gotten a lot better since he has been taking it, so maybe a large dose of that would be helpful.
I take this stuff called Master Gland by Natures Sunshine which has things in it like pantothenic acid, zinc, dong quai, eleuthero, and kelp which are supposed to support the glands...not sure how much it emphasizes the adrenals though. I also have this other stuff called Adrenal Caps by Solaray that contains bovine adrenal along with licorice and siberian ginseng but I heard someone say on here that you should nutritionally support the adrenals instead of using artificial means to lean on as it could cause the adrenals to become weaker.
Not sure what is the way to go with the adrenals. Even in dr lam's forum, if you ask a adrenal question, he says that there isn't one answer, and that you need to consult with him to meet your individual needs.
I've tried most adrenal supplements and never felt any improvements from them. Dong quai is supposed to be a hormonal supplement and even zinc affects the hormones. I avoid all hormonal supplements cause they don't seem to balance hormones, just seem to increase them with me. Zinc I was recently taking to see if I have a copper excess problem, but it just ended up increasing my progesterone...I know this from symptoms gotten from previous progesterone cream use. Triphala seems to be working best for me lately in keeping my system more calm and grounded. I have added some molybdenum to help relax. And I will be getting some grapefruit seed extract to help keep my system clean. I take a liver support supplement, cause I think that my liver has problems handling my hormonal volume.
Kelp has been know to contain arsenic, so I avoid it. Don't know if you tried iodine, but when I initially used it, I did smell skunky for maybe a month while it was detoxing bromine and mercury, I assume, out of me. It is definitly something that was missing from my body.
Don't know who that dr is that you mentioned but if he can't give any sort of answer and just wants people to use his services then I might question that.
My problem isn't relaxing,I've got enough of that...I can barely get going most days. I think perhaps I'll try the liver thing again.
As far as the kelp thing I'm not sure what to think about the arsenic thing, and I'm not sure what the diff is bet Iodine and kelp itself which contains iodine. Also not sure how effective it is at actually detoxing metals...as I've got mercury fillings as well.
