I've had 3 hair tests done all with high levels of arsenic, but they are declining, most recently my Doctor's Data levels have gone from .074 (july) to .052 (oct). I've also had moderate levels of titanium, aluminum, antimony, and uranium show up on these.
I'm taking Lugol's 5% (~10 drops), but not every day and 10 drops of magnascent every day. I'm also taking Cardio-C 1-2 scoops a day and 400mcg of selenium.
I've done 3 rounds of chelation with 10-50mg of DMSA plus 10-20mg of ALA using the Cutler protocol, 3 liver flushes, and taking a slew of supplements including manganese, B12, WTSmed metabolic nutrition, magnesium, grape seed extract, and cod liver oil, plus others.
My most recent TSH came back at 6.5 when it was going lower before this. That put me out of the ridiculous "normal range" and my doc sent me for a sonogram today. I asked the technician if she could give me any information and all she could tell me was that each lobe was about 6 cm long. This is definitely indicative of a goiter or enlarged thyroid - my words, not hers.
I'm frustrated and discouraged with Iodine supping and thought I was doing everything I could to heal my body. What am I missing? I don't want to be on thyroid hormone, but I have this feeling that nothing is working because I've been at this for 9 months. I still think the root cause is heavy metals damaging the thyroid itself or possibly at the pituitary level.
So you have been on DMSA for ~9 days?
Did you use ALA right away?
Might want to try that without the ALA first to see if there is a lot of Hg extra cellular then add the ALA slowly.
For adults both can be maxed out at 1mg per pound of body weight every 3-4 hrs by increasing slowly. Which brings me to the next item, from 10-50mg in 3 rounds?????
Yes every 3 to 4 hours with DMSA. At first I decided to do every 3 hours (for the first day at ~5mg) to see how I would react. My first round was DMSA only.
I added ALA for the last 2 rounds and it was nearly impossible to get even amounts when splitting the capsules. I added ascorbic acid to them and divided them up. I don't think I have any real way of knowing exactly how much was in each capsule. So for the first round it was 12.5mg and I estimate b/w 10-25 for the first round and roughly double that for the second round.
I always finished with DMSA to mop up. The only side effects I had during that time were skin breakouts and BO, which I attributed to bromine detox since I had it before chelating.
It might sound strange but I think chelating was throwing off my cycle since it took me 21 days to ovulate that month. I can't say I have seen where Andy addresses that, it was just an observation on my part. So, I'm opting to only continue chelation during my luteal phase. I keep track of my bbt and it's also difficult to get accurate temps with less than 5 hours of continuous sleep.
I appreciate the comments Newport, and value your advice. I can't really say that I felt any differently "on round"
You're ingesting two synthetic chemical substances on a regular and repeat basis and you're wondering why you're not feeling better ?
And your listening to a "technician" ?
Some organs change size, by design, like my schwanz. Or breasts. My testicles change size also. Lymph nodes change size as a result of their doing their gd job. Essentially all tissues are capable of swelling.
Yet people get all freakin worked up over a little change in thyroid size ?? Instantly, they conclude that something MUST be done NOW, like "kill, kill, kill" it with radio-iodine. That's the same male animal instinct of killing teeth with abcesses via "root canal" treatment. People are taught to love thy neighbor, but when it comes to their own body they have no second thought about killing a piece of themselves because some clown in a white coat says so after running some routine "test".
Until you stop poisoning yourself with DMSA and ALA, I wouldn't expect that you're going to be feeling better any time soon.
and just because there's less arsenic in your hair doesn't mean your levels are dropping, it only means that your body is excreting less through the hair follicles. that could be a result of inhibition of your body's excretion channels, by factors which may include DMSA and ALA themselves.
