Hello, I am in desperate need for a cure. My dentist tells me I need a root canal and my insurance tells me they wont pay the $900.00 it's going to cost. I don't have the $900.00 to pay up front so I am looking for an alternative to hold off this root canal. I am in awful pain!
My questions are:
Will Oil Pulling help me?
What kind of oil should I use?
Will this affect my silver fillings?
Also, I am taking OTC pain medication, Motrin and Tylenol is this OK to do with OP?
You can try pulling with oil of oregano - actually a few drops of it along with another oil. I used flax seed or hemp with the OO. Oil of oregano has very strong anti-bacterial qualities, and if you use it enough to absorb through the gums it could knock out the infection. I also kept saturating the gums around my infected tooth with Colloidal Silver when I had my infection.
It hurt like hades for a couple days until the infection was finally knocked out completely. But the tooth has been back to normal ever since and I never had the root canal. You might give it a try.
What I do with mine is to use several drops (4-6) in whatever oil I am using -- these days, usually sesame (which is also antibiotic). Then just swish per your normal routine.
Try to stop sugars while you are working on this as they will a) prevent your immune system from working its hardest and b) will cause inflammation, preventing the gums from healing close to the tooth and keeping the bacteria out from between the tooth and the gums. In addition, stopping sugars as much as you can will prevent teeth from developing cavities.
Another thing that will help knock out a mouth infection is xylitol. You can order it or buy it at some health food stores. It's what sweetens Dentyne, and is a natural antibiotic, too. You can rinse with some xylitol in water several times a day. (You can also find xylitol gum and hard candies online.)
Another thing is Vitamin C, which will help your body fight infection. I get bulk C ascorbate at Allhealthtrends.com and also I use Emergen-C packets.
You can take medication and still get OP benefits. I took medication last summer for migraine and as far as I could tell, both the meds and the OP worked just fine!
Maybe you could try this stuff for a month or two and try going to a different dentist to see what he or she says about that tooth. My prediction is that the present dentist is not going to back off of a root canal diagnosis, but that another dentist looking at a tooth treated by OP and other things you try may just find a tooth that can remain as is.
I had a dentist tell me I needed a root canal. I oil pulled for a month, and the pain stopped then I went thru a couple of days when it was terribly painful (which per the oil pulling experts means healing), and then I had no pain even while chewing on it. I went to my scheduled appointment after that and had it pulled. If I had to do it over I would have oil pulled a couple of more months as I believe it was well on it's way to healing. It wouldn't have hurt for me to tell the Dentist I was going to try another approach for a few months and get back to him and then get an xray at that point if need be, or never go back due to it healing. If I could only do it over.
hi, i'm trying to avoid a root canal also. i started oil pulling two weeks ago. my big question: i have a temporary filling on the problem tooth. can the oil pulling heal the tooth with the filling still on? or is it better to get it removed? problem is that 1/4 of my molar tooth is gone due to decay and drilling, etc.
i have also started cod liver oil and vicco tooth powder.
In addition to oil pulling; Try some vitamin K2 this appears to be a supplement that can strength teeth and reverse cavities. Add some Vit D (if deficient) and some Vit A in the form of cod liver oil. This article is very interesting: http://www.westonaprice.org/basicnutrition/vitamin-k2.html
Also, reverses calcification of soft tissues which is my problem.
Also there are several good articles on cure zone.
Hi Lulu. I've been told, more than once and by more than one dentist, that I needed a root canal. I told them to simply put in a filling and I've not had a problem with the tooth/teeth since. root canals are huge profit makers b/c then you have to deal with crowns, etc. Of course now I'm dealing with having the Amalgams removed, but that's another story. I assume oil pulling will help with infection, though I can't comment on that b/c I oil pull for other reasons (bad gums). If nothing else, it will make your mouth feel fresh and your teeth sparkling white! I also agree with using oil of oregano. It's strong and seemingly effective. So, if you don't already have a filling, or have a shallow filling, ask them to just do another filling. NO MERCURY/AMALGAM! Good luck.
I had a hyperthyroid problem about a month ago that pulled the calcium out of my two weak teeth and they hurt like crazy. I was using magnesium to calm my nerves and that really made it worse. Bad enough I thought I had an abcess.
I started upping my butter (Kerry Gold), raw dairy and bone meal and oil pulling. and My teeth have recovered nicely. The pain is completely gone. I went to my dentist last week to have both teeth looked at and he was stunned at how good my gums are for someone mid-50s.
I think if you try what's in Rami Nagel's book and on his sites you might be able to control the pain long enough to allow you to try a few things.
