I tried Oil Pulling for the first time last week. I was excited because I believe in the health benefits. I am trying to get relief for TMJ, KP and RA as well as general detox benefits. (If any of you know anything about OP helping TMJ that would be great. I can't find much about it.)
I use Takara Japanese Detox pads and have had good results with them, so I have detoxed a bit already.
I pulled one time on an empty stomach for 20 minutes last week. I used safflower oil. I had a terrible headache and sinus drip afterwards, which seem to be normal side effects. Of course I brushed my teeth and had plenty of water afterwards. I went to bed after taking pain medicine because the headache was unbearable within half an hour or so.
I also had a horrible tightness in my chest which I did not attribute to OP at that time because I hadn't heard of chest pain as a side effect. The chest pain was intense. It was difficult to swallow anything except ice cream or water. It felt like any solid food would get stuck on the way to my stomach and just hurt forever. It was scary, but I am only 34, so I waited it out. I started taking Tagamet and decided that I was going to see my Dr. if the pain wasn't gone by the 4th day. The pain went away by the 3rd day, so I didn't see a Dr.
I didn't OP again for a week because the headache had been so intense. I got the nerve up to try again yesterday morning. The headache came back, but not as strong, which is great! But the chest pain came back just as bad as before and now I realize it's from OP. I can barely swallow solid foods again. My chest is tight and very painful as I type this. The pain is located right in the middle of my chest.
I have not had any type of lung problem or gastric reflux problem. I have not been sick in months. I don't have a heart problem and I don't have a history of frequent heart burn, although I have had it once or twice. This pain is way worse than simple heart burn.
I do have Crohn's disease, but it is located way down at the end of my large intestine. It is not anywhere near my stomach/chest/esophagus. Also the Crohn's is in remission.
This chest pain is obviously from OP, but I can't find any other posts about this particular side effect. Can anyone shed light on this at all? It's a bit scary to have chest pain at 34. I'm wondering if I should stop oil pulling. I am going to do it again at least this morning and see what happens.
Sounds to me like you may have had an allergic reaction to "safflower" oil. The information I've read on OP (from east India origination) names "sunflower" or "sesame" oils. I know many here use other oils; but, I just stick to the ones originally listed in literature...and I've had no problems. Of course, people can also be allergic to either of those two oils, but I suspect it's few and far between.
Bottom line, if I were you I would NOT use safflower oil again.
All of your symptoms sound like you may
be dehydrated which could be precipitated
by the detoxing with the pads too. I would
suggest sipping water more frequently
during your day and adding 1/4th tsp of
sea salt to each liter of water you drink.
I didn't see u for ages on Curezone! How are you? Hope everything is very good with u and ur family:)
I am ok. Finally, I am on the way to cure my candida completely. Recently (3 days ago) I have completed 10 days water fast successfully and VERY happy about that! Fast was relatively easy and I was able to work. Here is a link if u are interested:
About two days ago I noticed kind of red blemishes ( may be subcutaneous masses) on my breast area and my belly. Not much but they look like skin irritation with a bit of inflammation and today I feel like scratching them. And by now they keep appearing, this time at the back of my neck. I do think my candida 'goes out on surface' having die off effect! Happy about it!!!:D
So after countless trials of all kind of fasts to get rid of this condition I HAVE DONE IT!
Nice to hear of your progress. Congratulations
on your fasting success. The bumps sound like
a detox symptom and I would suspect it is a
good time for you to Liver Flush now and follow
up in another 2 weeks if necessary. This will
encourage your detoxing to go through your
bowels rather than your skin. Of course, you
would want to have jump-started your digestion
and elimination. This is also a great time to
add plant based oils into your diet. For candida,
I cannot emphasize coconut oil enough. Tropical
Traditions is having a sale. The last day is
today but it is also the first day of free
shipping and so I am buying a couple of quarts
of their gold label~~
You may also consider doing some sitz bathing.
This involves soaking in a hot tub of water.
You can do a detox bath if you want, but it
does not matter. What is important is that after
a good soak, sit on the edge of the tub if you
have a hand held shower, and run the cold water
in the area between your navel and your bum.
This also facilitates the detox moving down
into the bowels. You can use the Curezone search
engine and look up sitz bath~~here~~
Sorry for not replying sooner (you know, yesterday 'chocolate' cookie was acting a bit so I just didn't have patience to keep posting:)
Yes, I know, I need to do a liver flash. I have already asked at a water fast forum and I will ask here as well - on my day 7 of refeeding period can I do a liver flash? Is it too early? Today (day 5) I have eaten probiotic yogurt without Sugar and tomorrow I will eat avocado with salad:).. Any thoughts?
As for sitz bathing.. I need to study that topic more. Thank you very much for taking care of me that way!:)
Coconut oil? Zoe, it is American promotion and I am in the UK. I guess it will be more or less the same. Any way, thanks again!
I apologize, as I am just now seeing this
post. I hope you waited for another week
before liver flushing as it is important
that you have resumed eating and have begun
to have a good flow of bile going before
liver flushing. After fasting it takes a
couple of weeks for digestion to really
come back into balance.
As for oil, surely you can find some good
oils where you are, flax or olive?? It
used to be a bit of a stretch for me to
just pour a tablespoon of olive oil into
a spoon and slurp it down but it gets
easier and especially when you realize
how good it is for your body, your choice
to do it feels good.
I don't know if anyone replied to your message already but i do know that what you are talking about sounds like gall stones. My wife was healed using olive oil and fresh lemons. the oil you are using may be stimulating the gall bladder and you might have stones developing. she described the same type of pains and she was 27years old. very very scary thing for her. she's ok now after gall bladder stone removal remedy i got off of here. look it up and do that and see if that helps you any.
