Hello All I just joined today. I heard about OP'ing in another message board and decided to try it out. The first morning I woke up and felt as though I was coming down with something since my throat was a bit inflammed. I wondered if I should still try th eoulling or wait until I felt better.
I decided to go through with it and used Coconut oil to do so. My teeth felt clean the entire day, I decided to OP that evening as well and asked my SO to purchase some Sesame oil. he did but purchased Toasted Seasame oil. I understand through browsing that it may not be the best choice?
Day two I again pulled with the toasted sesame oil. Through out the dau my throat got a bit worse but again I believe that this was pr existing. Truth be told my throat is getting better and not as bad as I usually feel. Late in the evening I awoke with an Irritated Bowel and had to literally run to the bathroom.
This morning, my stomach felt fine. I pulled iwth the coconut oil instead this morning. I have been traeting my throat with a salt water gargle. My boss is asking that I go to the doctor and get some anti-biotics for my throat but I feel that that will throw off my Op'ing.
I am sure my throat is not connected with the oil pulling, but I am concerned about the Loose stool episode?
You have to be a spitter if you Oil Pull. You can't swallow. If you swallow, the literature says you'll run the possibility of being sick. The OP removes bacteria and toxins. If your digestive track gets a big does of that stuff, you could have some reaction.
SWF are used to clean the colon. I don't know how sensitive you might be to salt, but there is an extremely slight/minute possibility that the gargle caused it. I sincerely doubt it though. Oil in itself should not cause bowel movements.
I don't know about the sore throat. I've had a sore throat and cough for a while. It started when I started parasite cleansing, and gets worse after heavy doses. I view these as detox symptoms. They only get worse in direct relationship with the potency of the parasite cleanse. I have not noticed this effect with the OPing.
To be perfectly honest, the loose stool and sore throat sound more like you are sick. But flu symptoms are also detox symptoms, which are good.
Probably not much help. However, if you are sick, you should probably address that first.
1) Sore throat. If it started after OP, it's probably detox rather than bacterial infection. Lots of people have reported sore throat after beginning and should go away. (There is certainly a possibility that you also have strep or something, but do know that sore throat can and does follow OP.)
2) Stomach. I have read about people having upset stomach while or after OP, or another thing you'll see in OP archives is the question, "OP makes me have to go to the bathroom." Again, there's a possibility that you have a stomach bug or food poisoning. But, there is a strong possibility that it's just OP. There is a strong connection between OP and the digestive system: oil in the mouth "tells" the stomach that "fats are on the way!" and it begins to prepare for them (this is why you don't want to OP on Day One of a Liver Flush -- even though we don't swallow the oil, our stomachs react to its simply being in our mouths).
I would give it a couple/few days and see if your throat/stomach symptoms get better/go away. You could go to the doctor and get a strep culture later in the week but I imagine this is OP-related and you won't have the symptoms much longer.
I have used toasted and black sesame oils when they have been the only thing around -- maybe they are not the ideal, but I am still here!
