i took a prescription but did nothing. i don't think the doc gave quite high enough dose myself. I've read that pin-x can treat worms other than pinworms but a higher dose is needed? what dosage should i take if i am trying to see if it will kill off other types of worms?
I think this is pyrantel pamoate. If so, you do have to be careful with the does, beceause if you use a sub-clinical dose, in other words a less than effective dose, and you have round worms, you will cause them to migrate. In other words they get irritated, and they move out of the colon, and squirm somewhere else. Which you do not want to happen.
I tried it, just got sick, and I don't think I got any parasites with it becauase I didn't use enough to be effective. I am sorry I took it, because I know I have round worms, and they may have moved out of my intestinal track, and gotten somewhere that is more damaging.
I don't know about the effectness of the other prescription anti-helmetics, I know that albutrazole is supposed to be used with a cortical steroid in case that you have a cyst in your brain, and you have seizures. I've seen it sold through on line pharmacys, but I really don't want to try the drug.
I am also curious if anyone here has had any luck with the prescription medications for round worm or tape worm. Has anyone tried praziquantil? I've used it on my cats, if works for both cats and humans, and the cats got rid of their worms, and didn't seem to be bothered by it.
My instinct is that long term plants produce the strongest and best insecticides, which also are lethal to worms & flukes. I'm also commng to the conclusion that I'm going to have to get really healthy to fight off the parasite infection that I have, and make a lot of changes. Which means making changes in my diet, and exercizing more than I do, and attacking my low tyroid condition with something other the synthorid. I hated the synthroid so much I finally went off of it about five years ago, even though my thyroid was still too low. I actually felt better without the stuff. Now I've read that synthroid causes osteoporosis, so any time you take a medicine, better check out what it does really carefully.
Good luck, Pin X works for pin worms, and at least getting rid of them will help. If you have the other guys too, you might consider some alternatives, or just be really sure you are taking enough of it.
I came across your question while in search for dosage of Praziquantil. My Dr prescribed a single dose of 600 mg a couple of months ago. It did not work. Though I can feel my Tapeworm in my gut. I'm sure it has been there for many years.
A couple of years ago, I did a very effective cleanse, from the Hulda Clark website. It was incredibly effective for many different types of parasites. I did her cleanse for about 1 1/2 years. I just kept expelling all kinds of stuff. Though it proved ineffective for this very large tapeworm. I am 52 and I believe I have had this since childhood. It is a fish tapeworm. We lived near a small pond for many years and fished and ate the fish from there for the entire time we lived there.
If you are not sure of how Praziquantil works, it paralyzes the worm, so it will release from your intestines. My first does of 600 mg I could feel did paralyze some of it. You feel the release of pressure in your gut, but apparently not enough to release the scolex. That is the most important part to get, or it will just regenerate itself. I just got another prescription for 12 more of the 600 mg. My Dr. wants me to take 600 each weekend for 4 weekends. We agreed I could move the dosage closer together. I feel that would work better. The side effects may be more harmful, but I feel that having this thing in my gut is far more harmful. I had no side effects from a single does, other than no positive results and felt that an addition dose would have removed it possibly. My email address is momsdream2006 if you want to email me for more info. I have to go to work now. It will be a short while before I can get the Rx filled, it is pricey. Though I did find an online pharmacy that carries it way lees expensive than the US.
