Got Cellular Hypothyroidism?   3 y
"Overcoming Thyroid Disorders" by David Brownstein, M.D.

”Your hypothalamus (in your brain) produces a compound called TRH (thyrotropin releasing hormone) also known as protirelin, which signals your pituitary gland at the base of your brain to release another compound called TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).” (1) THS acts as your body’s metabolic regulator which includes the function of every organ and every cell in your body. ”In a hypothyroid state, the thyroid gland is releasing inadequate amounts of thyroid hormone to meet the body’s metabolic demands, and the metabolic rate is therefore reduced. The thyroid gland produces two maj ...   read more

Sugar Addiction   3 y
An essay, a lecture, two New York Times articles and two documentaries plus commentaries.

More from the published essays of Dr. Dale Jacobson, DC (who is also featured on my DVD: ”Raw Milk: The Whole Truth”). Dale: There are hundreds of sugars on this planet. When you find the suffix “ose” on a word, it usually means sugar. ... Lactose, maltose, glucose, fructose, galactose, etc. are all sugars. As we learned, common white sugar is sucrose. Sucrose is a “di-saccharide,” meaning two sugars. A “mono-saccharide” is one sugar. The “two-sugared” sucrose breaks down equally into the “one-sugared” glucose and fructose. Glucose is the most important carbohydrate in our blood, and is ...   read more

Osteoporosis And The Calcium Myth by Dr. Dale Jacobson DC

Got Live Aloe Vera Plant/s?   3 y
The very best first-aid treatment for burns that everyone who cooks deserves to have in every kitchen.

Fresh cut Aloe Vera flesh applied to the skin is the very best thing that I know of for treating a burn. I highly recommend having a live plant in every kitchen. If a live aloe plant is not possible in your kitchen then at least have a bottle or a tube of aloe vera gel and as close to 100% as you can find. Although I have known that aloe vera is the best treatment for burns I fortunately have not had to make much of a personally demonstration of that with myself, until yesterday! I had melted a portion of lard in a pot to prepare some food and when I dumped my container of fo ...   read more

Got 1:1 Calcium to Magnesium?   3 y
"Ancient Minerals: 5 Reasons Why You Might be Magnesium Deficient" by Kayla Grossmann

”... Calcium is responsible for signaling muscle contraction, whereas magnesium is required for muscle relaxation. While research has confirmed that calcium to magnesium ratios in the paleolithic diet were 1:1, our ’bone building calcium-craze’ has left modern individuals with a warped exposure, reaching anywhere from 5:1 to 15:1. Studies have clearly demonstrated that excess calcium destorys magnesium, while magnesium supplementation significantly improves the body’s use of calcium.”: http://blog.radiantlifecatalog.com/bid/58089/Ancient-Minerals-5-Reasons-Why-You-Might-be-Magnesium-Defic ...   read more

"Blood Pressure and Lipid Guidelines for the Elderly? Useless."

”At age 70 – or 60, 50 or even 40 – should you have the same blood pressure that you had at age 20? Many conventional doctors and most of the Powers-That-Be feel that the answer to that question is ’yes’. Conventional medicine loves to issue guidelines. They have issued guidelines concerning weight, lipid and blood sugar levels and blood pressure. New guidelines inevitably result in millions of new patients requiring millions of new prescriptions. Big Pharma loves new guidelines.”: http://blog.drbrownstein.com/blood-pressure-and-lipid-guidelines-for-the-elderly-useless/ My belo ...   read more

Got Sprouted Flour?   3 y
The Benefits of Sprouted Flour.

Virtually all flour comes from either a grain or a bean. Either way these are foods that require proper preparation. For instance if you were to prepare by cooking grains or beans then the preparation that is based on traditional wisdom is to pre-soak the grains or the beans. For flour the there are two approaches. One is to take the conventional flour and presoak that. Another approach that I prefer is to pre-sprout the grain, dry it and then grind it into flour. The following gives some of the reasons for choosing sprouted flours. ”Why Sprouted Flour? Easier to Digest – Sprouting b ...   read more

The "So Called Paleo Diet"   3 y
A warning against fad diets especially the low-fat belief system as well as the rest of the industrialized food system.

Dr. Weston A. Price made most remarkable discoveries and contributions to real nutrition science (as opposed to the hype and hysteria prevalent among advocators of fad diets and nutritional products). The findings of Dr. Price were drawn directly from his direct contact and study of a number of different isolated cultures around the world. In addition he dedicated himself top years of painstaking lab work that continues to inspire researchers today! One of the greatest discoveries and contributions made by Weston A. Price was regarding the essential requirements for a level of health (tha ...   read more

"Spring is Coming! Do You Have Allergies?" Posted by Dr. Ellen Tart-Jensen on 4/11/2014

Our biological wholeness includes the whole spectrum of psyche-brain-organ-body as well as the spiritual dimension. Dr. Bernard Jensen is one of my teachers and his findings among several traditional cultures regarding nutrition and lifestyle deserves full recognition. It is my intention by starting this blog (with the following link to an article by Dr. Jensen’s daughter-in-law) to follow-up here and add more of the most outstanding common findings among the traditional peoples. ”People can be allergic to almost anything, but the most common allergens are pollen, mold, dust, animal hai ...   read more

Human Design - Solar Plexus Center and Food   3 y
Introduction to the Human Design System and how it interfaces with our physiology.

”The Solar Plexus (Center) is a powerful motor with many purposes—one of which is to release primary action. It is the motor or the energy of the human ’experiential way.’ It takes us in and out of experiences. This Center is very complex as it dominates the basic things of life like making love, bonding, food, moods, romance, and entering into new experiences.”: http://humandesignsystem.blogspot.com/2005/08/human-design-system-understanding.html   visit the page

Got "True Taste" For Food?   3 y
"From a Robert Graves lecture at MIT in 1966(?)"

This is synchronistic! After my last post here regarding ”sweet addiction” (and the loss of a certain taste) I received an email from this group directing me to their FaceBook page and then find the following on their page.: ”The decline for a true taste for food is the beginning of a decline in national culture as a whole. When people have lost their authentic personal taste, they have lost their personality, and become the instruments of other people’s wills.”: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Logosophia-Books/448454525254904?success=1 Rudolf Steiner has talked about taste.   read more

"10 Reasons to Use Bitters"

Sugar addiction is reportedly one of the most severe addictions of any substance! One of the reasons why the general public does not realize this is that sugar is also the most readily available ”substance” and therefore those who are addicted to it have a virtually endless supply available to them whereby they can feed their addiction at any time! (There are plenty of books out on this subject in case anyone wants to read up on it.) Another reason that the pervasiveness of sugar addiction is not commonly recognized is that the intake of sugar has gradually increased over the years, over ...   read more

Nutritional Supplements For Brain Health & Energy   3 y
Rethinking the idea of nutritional supplementation in light of what is truly nourishing (and beyond).

Close to forty-four years ago I was introduced to taking nutritional supplements (by a medical doctor’s recommendation) and under the belief that the supplements would give my body things it apparently was lacking from my diet at that time. I continued taking nutritional supplements over the subsequent years and which my ongoing research (that included the poor conditions of our soils across the u.s. of A plus other factors) further validated my convictions that food was lacking in nutrients. However, my way of thinking on this began to change once I was introduced to Nourishing Traditio ...   read more

Essential fats for psyche and brain health - Traditional diets for psyche and health.

Consider the wholeness and all-inclusiveness of your ”body-mind-spirit” with regards to anything as it may impact your total wellness or the wellness of your family. Some of the factors include your body’s bio-chemistry (as well as your diet) along with your emotions in all your relations. I am starting this blog entry with the first ”factor” in mind. The following articles support the thinking that nutrition plays a vital role in the well being of our psyche. The particular nutrition that is firstly being addressed here is nutritional fats and begins with a focus specifically on omega ...   read more
